About the position

Work environment
This CR-04 Detachment Services Administrative position is a Monday to Friday full-time day position responsible for a variety of administrative duties including providing service to the public with a focus on data maintenance in PROS and CPIC. The RCMP Olds administrative team also provides administrative and operational support to the regular members of the Olds RCMP. This position may include exposure to unsettling and / or graphic material
Intent of the process
This is an anticipatory process. This process will initially be used to staff one (1) position on temporary basis in Olds, Alberta.
This process will be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates. The pool may be used to staff similar indeterminate, term or acting positions with various security requirements and tenures, which may vary accordingly to the position being staffed.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status (ERS) security clearance.
Those selected must meet and maintain the above condition of employment throughout their employment.
NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.

Operational Requirements

Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material
Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation (including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft).
Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience*
*Proof of education will be required prior to appointment

Ex1 - Experience in the provision of administrative support services including three of the following: data entry, preparing correspondence, ordering office supplies, filing, or processing mail.
Ex2 - Experience providing service to internal or external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.
Ex3 - Experience in using computer applications including two of the following: databases, email, spreadsheets or word processing
Ex4- Experience in maintaining a law enforcement database such as: Police Reporting Occurrence System (PROS) or Canadian Police Information (CPIC)
