Duties

SOME DUTIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
•Identify, assess and document repair and maintenance requirements for CFHA housing units.
•Plan, organize and implement repair and maintenance work on CFHA housing units through service providers. This would include the preparation of repair and maintenance work orders.
•Oversee and confirm work/repair completion in accordance with the terms of the contract, specifications, technical codes and standards.
•Conduct responsive and preventive repair and maintenance inspections of housing units and equipment/systems.
•Provide customer services that includes responding to CFHA housing unit service requests, elaborating repair and maintenance plans/schedules on the housing units.
•Provide ongoing instruction, information and guidance to service providers, team members, and housing unit occupants.
•Assess and perform minor repair/installation and/or temporary fixes/solutions. This would include identifying and utilizing materials and tools required to complete the repairs.
•Prepare technical documentation and plans, provide coordination, collaboration and support for capital asset project design, development and implementation through external service providers.
•Maintain ongoing assessment and provide technical inputs with respect to housing unit operations, repairs, life cycle replacement, betterment projects and activities.

We are a team of 380 federal public servants who work hard to meet the needs of the Canadian Armed Forces families living in DND housing. We have close to 230 employees at our Housing Services Centers across Canada and 150 employees at our Head Office in Ottawa.

CFHA Edmonton is a dynamic team of 11 full-time employees. We work together to provide housing services to approximately 500 Canadian Forces families. Intent of the process

o The immediate need is to staff one bilingual (English and French) position at the BBB/BBB proficiency level on a permanent basis at the CFHA Edmonton Office. In addition, a pool of qualified candidates will be established, which may be used to staff positions at the CFHA Edmonton Office with different language requirements, including bilingual (BBB/BBB) and English Essential.

EDUCATION
• EDU. A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.

The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:

• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
• EX1. Experience in one of the following:
o Renovating residential single-family, semi-detached or row housing units;
OR
o Conducting inspections and determining maintenance requirements of residential housing or commercial properties.

• EX2. Experience in property or facility maintenance or project management.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
• AOC1. Possession of a valid journeyman's certificate in a residential building trade or certification as an engineering technologist or technician.
• AOC2. Interprovincial Red Seal Certification as a Carpenter, Electrician, Plumber or Gasfitter.

EXPERIENCE
• AEX1. Supervisory experience.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Willing and able to travel.
• Willing and able to work overtime on an occasional basis.
• Willing and able to meet the occasional requirement to work in confined areas such as crawl spaces or at heights such as second storey roofs.
