As Visitor Services Team Leader V - Operations Coordinator, you oversee the development and delivery of visitor services in the Jasper Field Unit, reporting to the Visitor Experience Manager.
You manage programs, projects, and daily operations, lead multi-functional teams, and supervise staff. You build relationships with partners, assess visitor service needs, and provide strategic advice to support operational success. You analyze operational costs, oversee service contracts, track revenue, and manage significant salary as well as goods and services budgets.
You build strong relationships and collaborate closely with Parks Canada colleagues to ensure that campgrounds, visitor facilities and day use areas are safe, welcoming, and maintained to a high standard. You are responsible for the implementation and on-going assessment of all standard operating procedures, the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) program, and training for visitor services staff.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized educational institution with specialization in business administration, recreation, leisure, tourism, communication, or other discipline related to the position; or an equivalent combination of education, training, experience and/or traditional knowledge.

EXPERIENCE IN:
• Managing visitor service programs, projects and/or operations
• Coordinating and monitoring daily operational activities, contracted work, including issue analysis and problem solving

• *Significant experience managing financial and human resources. Includes experience directly supervising staff and managing their performance.

*Significant is defined as a minimum of 2 years experience managing a variety of staff and the associated financial resources to deliver services.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
• Managing visitor services or operations in remote or seasonal environments, particularly in national parks or similar settings.

• Integrating sustainability, conservation, or environmental stewardship into operational planning or visitor programs.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Wear a Parks Canada uniform and abide uniform policy
• Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required
• Sit during extended periods (50-75% of the day)
• Be exposed to stress when responding to fluctuating, unpredictable visitor demands and requirements
Must be met prior to employment:
• Obtain and maintain a reliability status
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license or equivalent
