Duties

📌The Driver/Operator – Road Maintenance is responsible for providing snow removal and street and road clearing services using vehicles that require a Class 5 driver’s license, as well as grooming cross-country ski trails.
📌They perform maintenance on main roads, worksite perimeters, and secondary roads, and provide labor services for Mauricie National Park – Parks Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
🎓EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience related to the position.

Degree equivalency

📝EXPERIENCE:
• Recent and significant experience (at least 3 months within the last 2 years) in snow removal on roads and trails, as well as grooming and maintenance of cross-country ski trails using various machinery.

• Significant experience in the operation and maintenance of motorized vehicles (groomer, snowmobile, ATV, small tracked equipment) and mechanical tools (chainsaw, brush cutter).

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

⭐️ ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (ASSETS):
• Experience to safely perform tree felling work
• Class 1 or Class 3 valid driver’s license

💪 SKILLS:
• Ability to operate various equipment such as groomers, snow removal vehicles, chainsaws, brush cutters, snowmobiles, ATVs, and small tracked machinery.
• Ability to perform basic mechanical maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to operate various equipment competently while adhering to health and safety standards and the Highway Safety Code.
• Ability to communicate verbally to convey clear and precise instructions.

🚩 OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Willingness to travel and work in all types of weather conditions and on varied terrain for extended periods.
• Willingness to work night shifts, irregular hours, rotating shifts, overtime, and/or on weekends, statutory holidays, and provincial or territorial holidays as needed.
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform in accordance with the Parks Canada uniform policy.
• Ability to lift and carry a load of at least 25 pounds (approximately 9 kg) over short distances.
