Work environment

This position will require mandatory attendance 3 days per week at the RCMP’s Headquarters, located at 73 Leikin Drive, Ottawa, Ontario (Barrhaven).

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff various positions on an specified period basis (one year), with a linguistic profile of bilingual imperative CBC/CBC and an Enhanced Reliability Status.

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
Secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).

Notes:
1. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
- A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
- An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:

a. Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
b. Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the AS classification.
The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.

Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the AS classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.

2. Acceptable experience and/or training in a field relevant to positions in the AS classification is required when the education qualification specified for the position being staffed is a secondary school diploma or approved employer alternatives.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience conducting law enforcement investigations, or security investigations, or risk assessments.
Experience preparing detailed reports or assessments related to law enforcement or security.
Experience working or liaising with law enforcement partners.
Experience in querying law enforcement or security databases.

ASSET - EXPERIENCE
Experience as an investigator in a specialized investigative unit such as: Major or Serious Crime, Criminal Intelligence, Commercial Crime, Drug Enforcement, Organized Crime.
Experience conducting law enforcement investigations, or security investigations or administrative investigations within a municipal, provincial or federal government.

HOW TO APPLY:
You will be required to answer screening questions to demonstrate how you meet the Essential Qualifications (Education and all Essential Experiences).

When answering the screening questions, it is not sufficient to say that you have the required qualifications or to list your current or past responsibilities. Rather, you must provide concrete examples of tasks you have accomplished with significant details to explain the WHAT, WHEN, WHERE and HOW you acquired each qualification.

For each experience criteria, please provide the following information:

1- Name of the department or organization where the experience was acquired;
2- Title of the position occupied, group and level and the period(s) in which you performed the functions (M-Y to M-Y);
3- Specific details of tasks or projects demonstrating how the experience was acquired (Situation/Challenge, Tasks, Action and Result).

Should your responses to the screening questions contain insufficient details to demonstrate that you meet the screening criteria, your application will not be given further consideration in this process. Candidates will not be solicited for incomplete or possible missing information.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
