Duties

Who Are We Looking For?

The Pedagogical Expertise Unit at the Royal Military College Saint-Jean is seeking an empathetic and dynamic individual interested in a stimulating role within a unique environment. The person in this position will serve as the key resource and be responsible for the Sexual Violence Information and Prevention Service and for fostering a positive campus culture. This individual will lead various sessions, workshops, and information booths related to building a positive culture at the College. They must be capable of working independently and continuing the development of this new service by implementing best practices.

What Will Your Role Be?

As the Specialist – Resources, Training, and Prevention of Sexual Violence and Promotion of a Positive Culture, you will provide a wide range of services including frontline support, awareness and promotion, information, training, and screening. These services will address the diverse needs of the college community regarding sexual violence.

You will offer guidance on:
✔️Prevention and support related to sexual violence
✔️Policies and standards aimed at mitigating the negative impacts of sexual violence on students, faculty, and the college community
✔️Developing a culture of respect, inclusion, and safety on campus

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team working collaboratively to fulfill the team’s mission. Our efforts aim to place the learner at the center of the educational process, ensuring a stimulating, memorable, and innovative learning experience in a positive and healthy environment.To achieve this, you will work closely with students during prevention and awareness booths/workshops or during advisory or needs assessment meetings, whether for victims or witnesses of sexual violence.You will also liaise with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure that students who are victims of sexual violence receive appropriate support or academic accommodations, in compliance with legal frameworks.

Royal Military College Saint-Jean is located on the site of Fort Saint-Jean, a heritage site that has borne witness to the vast military history of the French and British Regimes as well as that of Canada.

The Royal Military College Saint-Jean (RMC Saint-Jean) is part of the re-focused Canadian Defence Academy (CDA), which continues to exist now as an 'education group' composed of the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC), the RMC Saint-Jean Saint-Jean, and the Canadian Forces College (CFC).The mission of Royal Military College Saint-Jean is to educate duly selected CAF members in order to instill them with the competencies required to maintain excellence in the profession of arms.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in education, linguistics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, physics, home economics or some other specialty relevant to the positions in the classification.

EX2 : Experience in needs assessment for individuals living with coping situations.

EDUCATION
University degree (mini-program certificate, baccalaureate or second cycle diploma) or a mix of university courses related to sexual violence.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES
AEX1 : Experience in implementing policies related to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion or the prevention of sexual violence or hateful conduct
AEX2 : Experience in coaching and counseling
AEX3 : Experience in post-secondary teaching

KNOWLEDGES
Knowledge of various problems experienced by a population of young adults such as: depression, anxiety, stress, personal problems, integration difficulties

ABILITIES
Ability to identify and analyze data
Ability to use statistical analysis software (Microsoft Excel, SPSS, etc.)
