Important messages

We are committed to providing an inclusive and barrier-free work environment, starting with the hiring process. If you need to be accommodated during any phase of the evaluation process, please use the Contact information below to request specialized accommodation. All information received in relation to accommodation will be kept confidential.

Assessment accommodation

When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.

*Applicants are encouraged to apply ONLY if they are able to relocate or commute to the advertised location of work.

Applications will be accepted online only. Please apply online at www.canada.ca/government-jobs. If you have a disability that prevents you from applying on-line please contact the hiring manager as identified on this poster.

Communication for this process will be sent via email. It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure accurate contact information is provided and updated as required. Candidates who apply to this selection process should include an email address that accepts email from unknown users (some email systems block these types of email). Candidates are strongly encouraged to check their email on a regular basis.

Persons are entitled to participate in the appointment process in the official language of their choice. We ask that you indicate your preference in your application.

You will be required to demonstrate how you meet the education and experience criteria (essential and asset) for the initial screening, in answering online screening questions. We cannot make any assumptions about your experience. Simply saying you have the required qualifications or listing your current duties is not enough. The depth and breadth of experience of an applicant may be considered as part of screening or selection of a candidate, which is why it is recommended you quantify your experience. The screening questions are the primary source of information the screening board may use and your resume may only be used as a secondary source to verify information.

Written communication will be assessed throughout the application, including screening questions and resume.

Intent of the process

The intent is to have an inventory of candidates to draw from when vacancies arise for current and future needs. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis as long as the poster is active. When a pull of applications is conducted, a pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established. These positions have various language requirements (English Essential or Bilingual Imperative: BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, and CCC/CCC), as well as various security requirements levels, from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Enhanced Reliability Status to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Top Secret.

Additional asset qualifications, organizational needs, operational requirements or conditions of employment may be required. Candidates may be assessed and required to meet these additional qualifications in order to be appointed

Please note that applications in the inventory may be randomly selected for assessment based on organizational requirements. Random selection is a strategy sometimes used to manage the number of applications. This function generates applicants at random, according to criteria chosen by sub-delegated managers. The publication and random selection for the inventory are carried out using PSRS.

Candidates who have been assessed within the past 12 months will not be considered until the 12 month period has elapsed. We courage all individuals to apply, but please be aware of this timeframe if you have recently undergone assessment with us.

If you have been assessed and have qualified in the pool, you do not need to re-apply for the next pull of applications.

How does an inventory work?
- An inventory is a selection process that can be used by various hiring managers to meet their current and future needs. As a result, you will apply only once to be considered for CR-04 opportunities.
- Your application in this inventory will be active for 180 days. A notice that your application is about to expire will be posted to the My Jobs Menu of your account 30 days before the end of your active period. It is important that you monitor your e-mail and resubmit your application when prompted, or your application will be removed from the inventory. This ensures that the information that is provided to hiring managers is current and up-to-date, as well as ensuring that the candidates in the inventory are still interested in employment. You can click on the link in the e-mail to access your account, and you will have a message informing you that your application is set to expire. Click on “Update My Inventory Status” to resubmit your application.

What does "Registered in the inventory" mean?
- Once your application has been successfully submitted to the inventory, your status may be: "Date of disclosure of results: Listed in the inventory". This automatically generated message by the system means that your application can be considered. You will be informed in the event that your application is considered as part of a process generated from this inventory.

My personal information has changed, what should I do?
- Simply update them in the "Personal Information" section, in the "My Job File" menu of your account. This will allow us to have your current contact information and ensure adequate follow-up in the event that your application is considered as part of a process issued from this inventory.
- You can choose to update your application when you resubmit it to the inventory, or anytime that something changes that will impact your application. For example, if you gain more experience in an area that is related to the qualifications outlined in the inventory, it would be beneficial to update your application to reflect this. Since hiring managers screen applications based on the information you provided in the screening questions, it is recommended that you include experience gained after you initially submitted your application to ensure they have all of the relevant information. This also applies to changes in your education level or any of the answers you provided to the screening questions.

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.

Information on the preference to veterans
