Duties

As a Division Range and Training Area (RTA) Inspector, you will be responsible for coordinating and conducting annual inspections in accordance with higher guidance of all Division RTA assets along with managing RTA licenses. Your tasks also include preparing inspection reports and cover letters; briefing your findings; working with Base Inspectors as the senior inspector for advice and guidance; instructing on courses; understanding the licensing process; and providing advice, recommendations and reporting issues regarding licenses.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill one (1) position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Burton, New Brunswick.

A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical positions at the Department of National Defence.

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).

Note:
The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
a. A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
b. An acceptable combination* of education, training and/or experience.

*An acceptable combination would be considered as experience gained through one (1) year of employment in a relevant position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
• Experience in conducting infrastructure or operations inspections.
• Experience in applying safety standards for infrastructures.
• Experience in providing advice and guidance to internal or external partners on related directives, regulations, or orders.
• Experience in writing, reviewing, and editing reports or documents.
• Experience in using Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, Outlook or PowerPoint.

Other conditions of employment:
▶ Proof of a valid NB driver’s licence (Class 5). Note that an equivalent licence from other provinces will be accepted.
▶Willing and able to travel as required for inspections.
▶Willing and able to qualify for a DND 404 driver’s licence.
▶Willing and able to walk over rough terrain.
