The Wildlife Research Division of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) based out of the National Wildlife Research Centre on the campus of Carleton University in Ottawa, allows for close collaboration between government researchers and the students and faculty of Carleton University. This field-based student research assistant position will provide the opportunity to work at Coats Island, NU, an Arctic ECCC field camp located on a small, remote island, only accessible by charted flights. The student will be working with a diversity of team members, including researchers and biologists at Environment and Climate Change Canada, faculty and students at Carleton University, and Indigenous partners. The outdoor environment will be snowy, cold, and wet, and the student will be expected to continue work, even in inclement weather. Due to the isolated nature of the field camp, the student will be in close quarters with 8 team members for the duration of the season (~8 weeks). The selected student will have access to safety gear, needed science equipment, and provided with bunk in a shared space. The working environment is friendly, collaborative, and inclusive.
