DNA extraction, Gel electrophoresis, PCR, and general assistance in the lab. Some barn work may be required for sampling. Students should be comfortable working around animals, and comfortable with strong odors.
The student will work in the laboratories at the Sherbrooke-RDC in Lennoxville and/or other facilities as required by the project analysis, with possible work in a lab in a barn.
The student needs to have an animal science background and the position will require molecular biology lab work including but not limited to DNA extraction, electrophoresis, and PCR, as well as bioinformatic analysis of metagenomic sequences.

Education:
Currently enrolled/or will be enrolledd by the date of appointment in a Master’s program at the University of Laval with a specialization in animal science.
Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application. Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start date and the student must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term.
Experience:
Experience with following procedures/instructions

Experience in laboratory work related to agriculture
Experience in planning and carrying out laboratory research.
