Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill one (1) term position (temporary) and two (2) positions on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Cold Lake, Alberta.

OC1: Possession of a Certificate in Automotive or Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics from a recognized institution or industry, or management approved equivalent.

EX01: Experience working as a mechanic in the repair and maintenance of commercial automotive and heavy-duty equipment.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

OR01: Willing and able to obtain a DND 404.
OR02: Willing and able to work in a workshop environment in enclosed/confined spaces with exposure to loud noises fumes and dust.
OR03: Willing and able to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
OR04: Willing and able to travel outside the local area when required for tasking, training or technical conferences
OR05: Willing and able to work overtime as pre-authorized.
OR06: Willing and able to work from heights.
OR07: Must wear CSA approved safety footwear and other personal protective equipment (PPE)
OR08: Willing and able to work standby recovery duties on a rotating basis.

AEX01: Experience in the inspection and repair of a variety of heavy-duty equipment such as, but not limited to firefighting equipment, runway equipment, refueling equipment, etc.
AEX02: Experience using an SAP based program.
AEX03: Experience mentoring technicians during on-the-job training.
AEX04: Experience in the inspection and repair of gasoline and diesel engines and equipment.
AEX05: Experience in the inspection and repair of vehicle components such as, but not limited to; drive train, suspension systems, etc.
AEX06: Experience in trouble-shooting techniques and practices.

Reliability Status security clearance

↪Willing and able to perform a variety of physical tasks for an extended period of time, including but not limited to, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and sitting.

↪Willing and able to climb ladders and stairs, work on uneven surfaces, and work at heights.

↪Willing and able to get up from the floor and get down on the floor without assistance.

↪Willing and able to conduct repetitive tasks with either hand.

↪Possession of a valid (unrestricted and non-graduated) Canadian provincial or territorial driver's license such as a Class 5 License in Alberta.
