PrairiesCan is running and anticipatory hiring process for potentially two positions; the first is our Manager, Policy and the second is our Manager, Research, Analysis and Planning. In both roles, you will lead a team of people whose work is all about providing top-quality advice to our Minister and other decision-makers in the federal government. Reporting to the Director, Policy, Planning and External Relations, the Manager, Policy is responsible for leading the team of Senior Policy Analysts and Policy Analysts in the development of strategic advice for the Minister and senior executive. As a federal Regional Development Agency, PrairiesCan Manitoba is involved with a broad range of files that are important to Canadians ranging from economic development and related infrastructure, cluster development, clean technology and building the green economy, and partnering with community-based and not-for-profit organizations to advance key objectives. To be effective, the Policy Manager needs to have a broad range of skills and experience leading a team that is responsible for providing policy analysis and advice, consultation and community engagement, research, and building partnerships.
Reporting to the Director, Policy, Planning and External Relations, the Manager, Research, Analysis and Planning (RAP) is responsible for the development of economic research projects and data analysis that inform key strategic decisions taken by the Minister and Senior Executive. To be effective, the RAP Manager needs to have a broad range of skills and experience leading teams and economic and data analysis projects, as well as synthesizing key trends using labor market data and other indicators. The RAP Manager must also be able to work collaboratively inside and outside government to identify key opportunities that will lead to economic growth.

PrairiesCan has implemented a hybrid work program with three days in the office per week and up to two days of remote work per week. The successful candidate will be expected to report to the PrairiesCan office in Winnipeg, Manitoba. If you are appointed to the position, PrairiesCan will provide tools and/or equipment to support in person and remote work accordingly.
PrairiesCan offices are open environments with well-regulated air quality, ergonomic sit- stand workstations, and a combination of natural and fluorescent lighting. The physical demands of this position include spending a significant amount of screen time on a computer or equivalent, as well as reading documents in digital and/or print media.
A pool of candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level.

Education:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology, public administration, political science, business administration or statistics.

2. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience required for both positions:
• *Significant experience providing strategic advice and recommendations based on comprehensive research and analysis to senior management on economic development issues, priorities, policies and/or strategies.
• Experience applying research and data analysis techniques to the evaluation of reports, policies and programs.
• Experience consulting, engaging and building partnerships with a broad range of interested people, including Indigenous, government, private, non-profit and community organizations, to advance research on policy related initiatives.
• Experience managing financial and human resources.
Additional experience required for Manager, Research, Analysis and Panning (RAP):
• *Significant experience in developing research and data analysis projects and translating results into policy advice and recommendations to senior decision-makers.
• Experience leading the development of strategic planning.
*Significant experience is defined as having the depth and breadth of experience that would normally be acquired with the performance of full-time duties for a minimum of three (3) years.
