In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

Graduation, with a Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in economics, finance, international affairs, public administration or business; or a degree in law (LL.L, LL.B, B.C.L. or J.D.) from a recognized university.

EXPERIENCE (ALL STREAMS):

EXP1: Significant* experience in leading analysis, development and implementation of economic policy;

EXP2: Significant* experience in establishing and maintaining effective and collaborative relationships within an organization as well as with other federal departments and agencies, and external institutions;

*Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various complex (e.g., multidimensional, sensitive, confidential, affecting many partners or stakeholders, precedent setting, having major impact on the public service, or having a potential for significant media coverage) related activities.

ASSET EXPERIENCE (ALL STREAMS):

AEXP1: Experience developing advice to support federal budget decisions and in the preparation of the federal Budget.

AEXP2: Experience working in a central agency providing advice to Ministers for Cabinet and Cabinet Committee meetings.

ASSET EXPERIENCE (INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND FINANCE STREAM):

AEXP3: Significant experience in providing advice, recommendations and briefings to senior officials** and Ministers on international economic or fiscal policy.

AEXP4: Experience in economic analysis and policy development related to international affairs, and in leading developing Canadian positions and representing Canada in international forums.

ASSET EXPERIENCE (ECONOMIC AND FISCAL POLICY STREAM):

AEXP5: Significant experience in planning, directing and participating in analytical work in which complex economic information is analyzed using empirical and/or modelling techniques.

AEXP6: Significant experience in providing advice, recommendations and briefings to senior officials** and Ministers on Canadian economic or fiscal policy and macroeconomic developments.

AEXP7: Experience in economic theories, quantitative methods and analytical approach to policy analysis.

**Senior official is defined as Assistant Deputy Minister level (EX-04 or EX-05) or above.

K3: Knowledge of current Canadian economic developments, key issues, and trends in the Canadian economy, along with the data sources used for macroeconomic analysis.

AGREEMENT TO BEING DEPLOYED:

A deployment is the transfer of a person from one position to another that does not constitute a promotion. Please be advised that all appointments and deployments (except acting appointments) to and within the Executive (EX) Group within the core public administration that take place after April 1, 2020 are subject to the Agreement to be Deployed provision as a mandatory condition of employment.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
