ISED is transitioning to a hybrid work environment to leverage the best of both in-person and virtual work to deliver results. To foster a dynamic environment for purposeful in-person connections, most employees will be working part time at their designated ISED worksite on a weekly basis, and the remainder of the time from their telework location.
However, given the nature of this job, it is performed full-time on-site.

EDUCATION :
- Graduation from a recognized college or technical school in a field relevant to the duties of the position (e.g. physics, chemistry, engineering, electrical, electronics, mechanical, instrumentation technology) or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
EXPERIENCE :
- Experience in using typical information technology office software such as, but not limited to, the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

KNOWLEDGES :
- Knowledge of physical sciences such as (but not limited to) general physics, physical chemistry, mechanical physics, electricity, fluid dynamics, computer programming or metrology.

ABILITIES :
- Ability to communicate in writing.

ASSET EDUCATION :
- Graduation from a recognized university with a degree in a discipline related to the business of metrology, e.g. sciences, engineering.
ASSET EXPERIENCE :
- Experience in the application and conduct of examinations and tests of measuring instruments (volumetric; gravimetric; electricity; or natural gas measurement).
- Experience in working in science-based teams, working under a Quality Management Systems (QMS) or working in a laboratory environment.

Reliability Status security clearance
- Occasional overtime.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry, without mechanical aids, test equipment and individual weights weighing up to 25 kg to perform tests.
- Possession and maintenance of a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle(s) they are authorized to operate and to which they are assigned, in compliance with the appropriate provincial or territorial law.
- Occasional travel for periods of 1 to 2 weeks at a time and often on short notice.
