Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory staffing process designed to create a pool of qualified candidates. The pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment) within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

EDUCATION
• Successful completion of two years of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience*
*Proof of education will be required prior to appointment.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
• Experience providing administrative support services in an office environment, such as data entry, processing mail and/or correspondence, ordering office supplies, filling, processing mail, maintenance of office equipment, assisting with logistical arrangement such as travel/accommodation and meeting facilities.
• Experience in using computer applications including email, spreadsheets and word processing.
• Experience providing records management services such as indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retaining, archiving or destroying data.
• Experience providing service to internal or external clients/general public, via telephone, in writing or in person.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience providing administrative support in a policing environment
• Experience in maintaining a law enforcement database such as: Police Reporting Occurrence System (PROS) or Canadian Police Information (CPIC).
• Experience using a financial management system such as SAP or TEAM.
• Experience providing financial support services (i.e. verifying and/or correcting financial claims, controlling or monitoring petty cash, preparing financial status reports, etc.)

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Willing and able to work overtime as required.
• Willing and able to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation, including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft, and up to and including remote locations.
• Willing and able to maintain a valid drivers license, or have personal mobility to the degree normally associated with a driver’s license.

Conditions of employment

• RCMP Top Secret security clearance

Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a RCMP Security Clearance throughout their employment.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
