Duties

The Office of Disability Management (ODM) was created to be an impartial, collaborative and inclusive group that supports employees and supervisors/managers dealing with disability-related matter due to illness, impairment and injury.

Intent of the process

A pool of qualified persons resulting from this process WILL be created and MAY be used to fill similar positions with various linguistic profiles as well as tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, assignment, secondment, specified period) which may vary according to the position being staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).

Notes:
1. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:

Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the AS classification.
The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.

Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the AS classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.

2. Acceptable experience and/or training in a field relevant to positions in the AS classification is required when the education qualification specified for the position being staffed is a secondary school diploma or approved employer alternatives.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

EX1: Experience* in providing proactive case management services for complex disability management situations.
EX2: Experience* with disability claims or benefit management for physical or mental health.

* Experience will be assessed in terms of the depth and breadth of activities, the complexity and diversity of work handled, as well as the level of autonomy demonstrated.

AE1. EDU1. Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution .
AE2.EDU2. Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in Disability Management, Social Sciences, Health Science, or in a field relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

ASSET EXPERIENCE:

AEX1: Experience with worker’s compensation (or other third party provider) claims, appeals or mediation or adjudication processes.
AEX2: Experience in the medical accommodation process for permanent and temporary accommodations.
AEX3: Experience working in a mixed civilian and military environment.
