The Armourer and Materiel Readiness Specialist is accountable for delivering a client service pertaining to the issuance, tracking and control of armament to Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) staff, ensuring the continued serviceability and readiness of armaments and other operational equipment, including specialized assets used across Parliamentary Precinct buildings. There is a responsibility for the operational implementation of the program on asset preventive and scheduled maintenance, as well as coordinating external maintenance and repairs with external suppliers. The incumbent is also responsible for contributing to supply chain operations and asset readiness to support PPS operations in the context special events on the Parliamentary Precinct.
The Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) is a separate and distinct organization and is not subject to the Public Service Employment Act. PPS has its own classification, compensation system and staffing regime. Persons appointed to PPS continue to be part of the federal government and will receive the public service pension plan and public service insurance benefits plan.

Specialized training and certification as an armourer OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
EXPERIENCES:
E1:Significant** experience in consulting/advising clients, interpreting policies and guidelines, and resolving service issues;
E2:Experience in controlling, maintaining and/or disposing assets and preparing related records;
E3:Significant** experience in maintaining firearms;
E4:Recent* and significant** experience in client service;
E5:Experience making recommendations to senior management.

You must be eligible to obtain both a Site Access Clearance and an Enhanced Reliability Status. The process involves a background investigation that includes:
• a loyalty assessment;
• law enforcement verifications;
• credit and financial verifications;
• a security interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), previous employment, online activities, financial situation, alcohol and/or drug use;
