Duties

Duties include (but are not limited to):
• Receive, send, record, inspect, prepare and organize samples/specimens for analysis and/or collection and/or storage and/or distribution and/or disposal and/or analysis.
• Perform simple established analytical procedures.
• Participate in the planning, organization and execution of media and reagent preparation activities in order to maintain a sufficient reserve to meet the needs of the work unit.
• Comply with the work unit's quality assurance (QA) system, apply routine quality control procedures and maintain records relating to samples, measurements, observations and processes.
• Decontaminate glassware, instruments and biological materials, wash/sterilize glassware and instruments, and perform maintenance tasks in the laboratory work unit.

EE1: Work experience in a scientific laboratory, including the reception of samples and other supplies, sample and reagent preparation, as well as decontamination, glassware cleaning, and laboratory equipment maintenance.

*Means a technical-scientific field relating to the position to be filled, in particular: biomedical, laboratory techniques, food processes and quality, dietetics, animal health, biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical production, chemistry.

Degree equivalency

ASSET EXPERIENCE
AEx1: Experience in applying an ISO 17025 management system.
AEx2: Experience working in biocontainment facilities for different purposes.
AEx3: Experience working in a regulatory testing environment.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Applicants who have not lived in Canada for the past five (or ten, depending on security level) years may be required to submit a police certificate from each country in which they have lived for six months or more during this period, as well as other documentation required for the security screening process. Failure to submit this documentation if requested will eliminate the application from further consideration.
