The workplace is in the Piikani First Nation Reserve, 20 km from Pincher Creek. You have to travel to work because there is no residence for people who are not members of the Piikani First Nation Reserve. The Piikani Detachment provides police services only to the Piikani Reserve, a Blackfoot community.
Due to the location of the position, preference will be given to Aboriginal people.
This process will initially be used to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, and create a pool of qualified candidates. This pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police(i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).

- Successful completion of two years secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Experience in the provision of administrative support services which may include any of the following: data entry, preparing correspondence, ordering office supplies, filing and processing mail.
- Experience in using computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, databases.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
- Ability to deal effectively with police situations and queries.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment.
- Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Experience working in a law enforcement or legal environment
- Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.
- Willingness and ability to occasionally travel for work or training purposes using various modes of transportation including small aircraft.
- Willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
- Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
